Did you weep when you read Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’s classic story, The Yearling? This touching tale of a boy and his pet deer is a well-loved look at the sometimes-conflicting realities of life, nature, and nurture. Today, Ms. Rawlings is being honored by the United States Postal service with a lovely commemorative stamp depicting the Florida wilds in which her Pulitzer-prize winning novel is set. Stock up! (But remember, the USPS will increase postage rates to 42¢ on May 12, so you may want to pick up a few 1¢ stamps, too!)
